  • Having lived through a traumatic experience, be it a single incident or long-term, it is not at all unusual to find ourselves without the tools to cope.

We can have trouble creating a narrative for our story and so we continue to replay events in our minds, trying to piece together the answers we seek, hoping to find closure.

Without effective means to manage the emotions we attach to these experiences, it is also not unusual find ourselves relying on ineffective or unhealthy coping mechanisms just to deal with our feelings one day at a time.

Left with post-traumatic feelings of stress, anxiety, anger or fear, we apply these emotions to everyday situations. This can have a destructive effect on our relationships, our ability to perform tasks, our sense of self-worth and our feelings of connection with the world.

Over time, this cycle of simply keeping up with the symptoms of our trauma (rather than addressing the underlying cause) can lead us to feel as if the more we work at fixing the problem, the less effective our efforts become.

Our counselors are here to listen and to help you retake control of your life story. Reach out to us now to learn more about our available programs.

  • Individuals in long-term active addiction have often lost their connection not only to themselves but in most cases have also lost or damaged their connection to those closest to them.

Long-term recovery also goes beyond individual treatment.

Through individual and family group sessions, our family support plans are designed to:

Provide the family with a greater understanding and perspective on living with addiction.

Provide the family member in treatment with a clear understanding of the impact their actions have had on those around them.

Foster clear, open and constructive communication between the family and the family member in treatment.

Provide interpretation services and two-way progress updates to ensure all parties have a full understanding of where their loved ones are in the recovery process.

Provide all members of the family with the strategies and tools required to continue to function cooperatively and communicate constructively

Working together with the family ensures that the family member in treatment has a strong foundation to their support network right from the outset of their recovery.

We encourage individuals and families alike to consider Base Camp Family Support Services as part of their long-term recovery plan.
